1 killed, 1 transported to hospital after North Hills crash

NORTH HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) —

One person was killed and another was transported to the hospital after a large truck and another vehicle collided near the gate of a home in North Hills.

The crash occurred at Lassen Street and Hayvenhurst Avenue around 10:30 a.m. The collision resulted in a fire, that was quickly extinguished by firefighters who responded to the scene.

Officials said the driver of the container truck was transported to a hospital, and the driver of the second vehicle, possibly a Nissan Xterra, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said another adult was treated at the scene and released.

Traffic was shut down in all four directions at the intersection due to the incident. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
