7 injured, including baby, in Hollywood hit-and-run crash

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) —

A driver allegedly attempting to flee a minor traffic accident Saturday crashed into another car, injuring seven people, including a baby, in Hollywood. He then fled the scene.
The crash was reported at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Orange Drive. The hit-and-run suspect was driving south on Orange Drive, when he ran a red light and slammed into a Toyota Corolla driving eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard.

The suspect driver helped those in his car get off before taking off on foot and leaving his car behind, investigators said. He was last seen going eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard.

The seven patients included a 2-year-old boy, 1-month-old boy, 50-year-old man, 19-year-old man, 20-year-old woman, 16-year-old girl and a man of unknown age, Los Angeles fire officials said.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol played a role in the crash. The hit-and-run driver was fleeing a minor traffic just north of the scene, Sgt. James Tomeo said.

Authorities previously said the victims were listed in critical condition, but have since said the victims suffered only minor injuries.
