Two Coachella Valley men were arrested following separate crashes where police say alcohol was involved.

Sam Campos, 33, of Indio was arrested Sunday morning, June 7, in Palm Desert after he crashed� then tried to run from police, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Campos was driving a Chevy Silverado northbound on Gateway Drive approaching A Street shortly before 6 a.m. when he drove into oncoming traffic, crashed into a curb and then a sand berm, according to a news release. He was arrested after he tried to run away, police said.

Officer said Campos was found to be driving his vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was not injured in the crash, but was taken to a hospital for observation before being booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.

Earlier Sunday, Jose Duran, 30, of Cathedral City, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after he collided with another vehicle in an Rancho Mirage intersection.

Police say Duran was driving a black Toyota Camry eastbound on Ramon Road approaching Bob Hope Drive before 2 a.m. when he failed to stop for a red light and collided with a silver Lexus, the Sheriff’s Department reports.

Duran complained of pain as a result of the crash and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked in the Indio jail, police said.

The female driver of the Lexus suffered a broken left leg while the male passenger of the Lexus was uninjured, police said.
