COLTON: Mt. Vernon Ave. head-on crash kills motorist

A head-on crash in Colton killed a 58-year-old Fontana man, Colton police say.
The wreck was reported at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, along the 800 block of South Mount Vernon Avenue along a bridge that spans the Santa Ana River. � The crash site is just north of Cooley Drive and about a half-mile south of Interstate 10.
The victim was driving a gray 1999 Buick Park Avenue south on Mount Vernon Avenue when the car drifted into on-coming traffic and collided with a northbound 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck, said Cpl. Ray Mendez.
The car’s driver was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton where he died. His name had not been released by late afternoon.
The woman driving the pickup truck was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries that may have included a broken bone, Mendez said.�
