A 42-year-old Fontana man was killed in a high-speed crash and police are investigating the circumstances, an official said.
Christopher Ayers was a passenger in a vehicle speeding south in a brown 2002 Buick LS on Sierra Avenue between Interstate 15 and Summit Avenue about 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, when the driver, a 19-year-old man whose name was withheld, lost control and rolled the vehicle, said Fontana police spokeswoman Martha Guzman-Hurtado and county coroner’s officials.
Ayers was pronounced dead on the scene and the driver and two other passengers were injured: the driver had broken bones and major damage to his back and head. The other two passengers, ages 15 and 20, had superficial cuts, Guzman-Hurtado said.
Speed was a factor in the crash, but whether alcohol or other substance use was involved has not been determined, Guzman-Hurtado said.
The relationship between the people in the car was unknown, the spokeswoman said.
