A nighttime traffic accident killed a woman who was crossing a major street near a McDonald’s restaurant in the high desert city of Hesperia, say San Bernardino County sheriff’s and coroner’s officials.
The unidentified pedestrian died at the scene of the 8:06 p.m. accident Monday, March 16, along the 14400 block of Main Street in front of the Stater Bros. shopping center.
She was walking north across Main Street when she was hit by a Kia SUV in the westbound fast lane, sheriff’s officials said in a written statement. The driver wasn’t hurt.
Main Street was closed in both directions between Maple and Tamarisk Avenues until about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday while investigators interviewed witnesses and preserved evidence.
