MORENO VALLEY: Crash, car fire claims life

A crash that set two trees aflame killed at least one person and has caused northbound� Reche Canyon Road to be closed near Moreno Valley, CHP officials reported.
A witness reported to CHP dispatch at 4:51 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, that a gray Dodge sports car and another vehicle crashed head-on at Reche Canyon and Woodson roads, according to an incident log.
Both vehicles landed in a ditch and at least one caught fire. The flames were “spreading fast,” one witness told officials.
Deputies were called to close northbound Reche Canyon just south of the scene and firefighters were battling flames that had spread to two trees.
One person was confirmed dead in the crash, and paramedics took a second person to a hospital with moderate to major injuries,� Cal Fire officials said.
