Duque Law - Personal Injury Lawyers

A 30-year-old mother of two was killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing the street in Bellflower Saturday night.

Traffic detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lakewood Station received a call regarding the hit-and-run crash around 9:45 p.m.

The woman, identified as Makeda More, was found at the intersection of Lakewood Boulevard and Los Angeles Street. She was struck while walking home from the corner store.

More was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Family members and friends set up a makeshift memorial at the bottom of a street sign by where she was killed.

Jamari McNutt said More was a “good sister and friend.”

“She had a lot of advice and encouragement for you. I hope they find whoever did it and they get punished for what they done cause they took somebody real special,” he said.

More leaves behind a 2-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter. The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses at www.gofundme.com/4c3ub3zn4.

The car was described as a dark-colored Nissan with substantial damage to the front bumper and windshield.
