Motorcyclist dies following crash in Orange

A motorcyclist died in Orange after colliding with a turning car in the intersection of North Orange Olive Road and Meats Avenue on Monday evening, Sept. 20, authorities said.

The crash happened at 5:27 p.m., the Orange Fire Department reported. The motorcyclist was headed north on North Orange Olive Road when a car headed south was making a left onto eastbound Meats Avenue and collided into the motorcycle, said Sgt. Phil McMullin, spokesman for the Orange Police Department.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, McMullin said. Drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, McMullin said.

Identifying information was not immediately available for the motorcyclist.

The area of North Orange Olive Road was expected to be closed until about 9:30 p.m., McMullin said.
