Two women in their early twenties died Monday, Sept. 21, in a crash in Ontario, according to a San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office news release, which did not include the names and hometowns of the women.
The crash occurred about 10:20 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 10 between Mountain View and Euclid Avenue, the news release said. The women were driving in a white 2013 Scion FR-S when the crash occurred.
Witnesses saw the Scion traveling faster than 100 mph, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The driver made “an unsafe lane change,” the news release said, and hit the left side of a Chevrolet Malibu.
The impact caused the driver of the Scion to lose control, and crash into a raised asphalt curb and a dirt embankment. The collision sent the Scion airborne, causing it to overturn. The car stopped after crashing into the base of a changeable message sign.
Paramedics that arrived to the scene found the women dead. The driver of the Malibu did not suffer any injuries, the news release said.
