The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department asks that anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information regarding the whereabouts of the driver at-large or his car, contact the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department at 909-477-2800.
A Pomona man died Wednesday, Sept. 2, in a T-bone crash caused by street racers in Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said.
One of the street racers, a 16-year-old Rancho Cucamonga boy, was contacted by deputies after the crash. A person who was racing him in a black Ford Mustang remained at large Thursday.
The victim, 46-year-old Julio C. Lopez, was driving� a 2010 Nissan Altima east on Jersey Boulevard towards Rochester Avenue about 4:17 p.m. Wednesday when the racers sped southbound on Rochester Avenue from Arrow Route, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
When Lopez entered the intersection, the boy’s 2015 Ford Mustang crashed into the driver’s side of his car.
Both cars came to rest on the southwest corner of the intersection. Paramedics arrived and transported Lopez to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
