RIVERSIDE: Roll-over wreck snaps tree near 2 schools

A roll-over crash snapped a palm tree near two Riverside schools, but emergency crews found no victims, say city fire officials.
The wreck was reported at 3:27 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, in front of� Notre Dame High School and St. Catherine’s Elementary School near Brockton and Arlington Avenues.
Firefighters found the vehicle lying on its roof — with no one inside — in the driveway that serves both schools, Battalion Chief Bruce Vanderhorst said in a written statement.
There was a report that the driver had left.� And no passengers were found.
“The vehicle had struck a palm tree, breaking the palm tree of at its base,” according to the statement. “No bystanders or students were injured.
“That accident took place while students were leaving.”
Police are investigating.
