RIVERSIDE: Wheelchair, critically injured man found after train accident

A critically injured man was found beside a wheelchair after a nighttime train accident in Riverside, say city fire department officials.
Crews were summoned at 10:01 p.m. Saturday, May 30, along Merrill Avenue by reports of a pedestrian being struck by a train.
A man believed to be in his 50s was found lying next to a wheelchair near the railroad tracks, Battalion Chief Thomas Jay said in a written statement.�
The accident closed the track between La Mirada Avenue and Pachappa� Drive for several hours during the investigation by city police and Union Pacific Railroad police.
