A man who officials believe ran a red light in San Bernardino and died in a crash has been identified.

Carlos Martinez-Fernandez, a 35-year-old Highland resident, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash, which was reported at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, a coroner’s news release said.

Martinez-Fernandez was driving erratically north in a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer on Waterman Avenue at Sixth Street where it hit a tow truck as it turned left from Waterman onto Sixth.

Martinez-Fernandez was partially ejected, coroner’s and sheriff’s officials said.

Investigators said Martinez-Fernandez ran a red light.
