A big rig that overturned and caught fire blocked lanes on westbound Highway 210, CHP officials said.
The truck hit a center divider, overturned and caught fire about 1:42 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, near San Dimas Avenue. The wreckage blocked all the westbound lanes and officials temporarily closed that side of the freeway to clean up, a CHP incident log said.
Several eastbound lanes were also closed because of debris. The truck also hit and damaged a freeway sign that runs over all westbound lanes, the log shows.
Some lanes in either direction were open by 4:30 a.m.
Adding to the traffic congestion, a motorcycle went down just east of the semi crash on the westbound side at Foothill Boulevard, the log shows.
A car that hit the traffic created by the truck crash tried to make a quick escape off the freeway by cutting out of the car pool lane struck the motorcycle rider at 4:35 a.m., a witness reported to CHP dispatchers.
The car poool and fast lanes were temporarily blocked.
Paramedics were called to the scene but information on injuries was unavailable.
