Moreno Valley resident Brad Harvell said he was driving south on Perris Boulevard at Iris Avenue about noon when he saw Riverside County sheriff’s deputies in patrol cars and in a helicopter following a white Toyota. The Toyota was headed north in the southbound lane, he said. The Toyota was being driven “at a high rate of speed” and the deputies were following slower than that, Harvell said. The Toyota and a black pickup crashed and hit a cinder-block wall about a mile and a half to the north at Perris and Cactus Avenue. The pickup wound up on top of the Toyota. The person who died was the driver of one of the vehicles, said Sgt. Brandi Swan, a sheriff’s spokesperson. Two people in the other vehicle were injured, she said. Swan did not acknowledge whether there was a pursuit, address questions about it or say which vehicle the driver who died was in. This story is developing. More information will be added when it is available.
